Singing with Kalimba: Let It Be

Though the Kalimba is capable of playing beautiful melodies and solos, it also makes a great accompaniment instrument. Since our featured kalimba is pre-tuned to C Major, it makes singing along to countless popular songs easy and fun! Listed below, are popular songs and the chords to play them.

To make it easier to pick up, I have tabbed what notes are in the chords. Each note will be represented by a number (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10). If you play the tines numerically it will play the notes from low to high in the C Major Scale in order.  You will notice the scale moves up with a left/right alternation on the kalimba. 

Scale: D, B, G, E, C, D, F, A, C, E   

           9, 7,  5,  3, 1,  2, 4, 6,  8, 10

 Chords:     C,            G,              Am,              F,        Dm 

                (1, 3, 5)  /  (5, 7, 9)  / (6, 8, 10)  /  (4, 6, 8)  /  (2)

As you see in the video below, I play a simple arpeggio version of the chords, but feel free to change it up and make it more rhythmic or add your own style as well!
