Each set of tongues is tuned to octaves and single tongues can be activated by lightly touching the octave you want to mute with your finger. The Dual Tone can be played solo or harmoniously with other instruments, filling the room with rich, pure tones.

This is such a beautiful instrument that really must be played to fully appreciate. The videos that I listened to prior to purchase do not fully showcase the ethereal experience of actually playing it. I mirror many of the comments that the reviewer Daniel shared (and he articulated it so much better than I could have). What I'd love to add is that I very much appreciate the construction and quality of the Dual Tone. Separately, I purchased the pickup and enjoy the versatility of incorporating my signal processors into the experience. And the customer service by Idiopan has been excellent (this is my second Idiopan).

Playing this instrument is nothing short of euphoric. It is unlike ANYTHING I've ever heard. The vibrations are incredibly powerful, and can be felt throughout your entire body. Each note is so bright and pure, and resonates flawlessly and independently with very little effort. The dual tongues provide each note with its very own bass. When the inner tongue is hit, the outer one very gently resonates behind it giving it a beautiful fullness. When the outer tongue is hit, it produces a very deep and strong vibration. They ring harmoniously together.
The dual tongues add a dynamic I've never seen on other steel tongue drums(or any instrument period), and has such a pleasant sound. I see unlimited possibilities with meditation/healing. If you're sensitive to energies, this instrument may be a life changing experience for you, I'm not kidding. I recommend using the mallets if you're looking to produce pure and strong resonating vibrations. The tunability is mind blowing, and Im excited to explore the calming effects different frequencies have on my body. This drum is in a genre of its own.
